You dont have to be a Dartmouth student to visit the Ravine Lodge, which is accessible to the public and provides easy access to the Gorge Brook Trail. Make sure theres room for busses to pass. Without them, a hard hike becomes a REALLY hard hike. Always be prepared even if its 40 degrees in the parking lot :). The view from South Peak was beautiful. A famous New Hampshire ski excursion involves skinning up the Carriage Road to Moosilaukes top and down on skis. A little wet, due to all the rain but nothing dangerous. Then cover on the bottom mile up the Glencliff trail and then packed out above that, micro spikes the whole way. The summit was crowded but it was big enough for the crowds. You will want to have full face and eye coverage on most days, and when the summit is enshrouded in clouds hikers should strongly consider turning back herethree trails converge on the summit and it would be easy to get mixed up in low visibility.
